Seasonal Skincare Switches

Maintaining a healthy skin is an all year round task.

As we know, our skin reacts differently to the changing seasons and adjusting your routine is what helps you maintain that healthy glow!

The winter's dry air and cold can leave your skin dry and flaky. Sun exposure in summer can leave you with sun damage and hyperpigmentation.

The fluctuating temperatures in spring can be quite unpredictable leaving your skin confused and can lead to breakouts.

Here is a guide on how you can successfully transition into each season without causing any damage to your skin!

Winter

Dry flaky skin is the biggest side effect of winter if your skin is not well taken care of. Switch to a richer, more nourishing moisturizer. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid and ceramides to lock in moisture and protect your skin barrier against damage.

Opt for lip balms with formulas with shea butter, coconut oil, or beeswax for deep hydration and to prevent chapping. Remove harsh exfoliants and use gentler ones instead. These will remove dead cells without causing irritation to the skin.

Spring

Spring allergies can irritate sensitive skin leading to eczema flare ups, redness or itching. Switch to a lighter moisturizer to prevent your skin from feeling greasy. As the sun becomes more intense, switch to a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.

Consider adding antioxidant serums to your routine to protect your skin from environmental damage such as Vitamin C, niacinamide among others. Use soothing products to reduce allergy symptoms

Summer

The summer heat and increased sun exposure can lead to hyperpigmentation and increased sweat that can cause clogged pores and breakouts. Use a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer and hydrating serums to help maintain moisture.

Switch to a gentle, foaming cleanser to remove sweat, oil, and sunscreen without stripping your skin. Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher daily.

Fall

As the weather cools down in the fall, adjust your skincare routine to accommodate the changing conditions.

Switch to a more hydrating moisturizer to replace any moisture lost during the summer months and combat the drier air.

Look for serums with ingredients like retinol or peptides to help repair any sun damage accumulated during the summer and promote skin renewal.

Use a gentle cleanser to prevent stripping skin of natural oils. Exfoliate regularly to remove dead skin cells and promotes cell turnover.
