Your Passport to Summer Skin

Ready to soak up some sun?

Transitioning into summer not only requires closet change, it also needs you to prepare your skin for the sunny days ahead!

You are probably wondering why the summer season skincare routine should be different from other seasons.

Our skin has a complex relationship with the sun.

It is important for vitamin D production but over exposure can lead to a number of problems such as sunburns, premature aging and skin cancer.

When the weather changes, our skin is forced to react to climate change to regulate it's needs. That's why its important to feed your skin what it requires whenever the seasons change to maintain that healthy looking skin!

Here are some essentials you should stock up on!

Don't Forget Your Sunscreen

Your sunscreen is the most important step in your summer skincare routine. It is your best defense against harmful UV rays that can cause sunburn, premature aging, and skin cancer. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 and remember to reapply every two hours, especially if you're swimming or sweating.

Keep Your Skin Hydrated

The summer heat dries out your skin. Getting a good hydrating serum is key in maintaining that healthy plump looking skin. It helps enhance your skin’s hydration, prevent it from drying out and improve its moisture retention. Don't forget to drink your water as well, it's important for your overall health as well!

Moisturize

Don't underestimate the power of a good moisturizer! They help in hydrating the skin while protecting it from environmental aggressors. Ditch the heavy creams and go for lightweight, oil-free moisturizers or gel-based formulas. They are easier to absorb and won't clog your pores!

Opt for Gentle Cleansers

Summer heat can lead to clogged pores and dull skin. The goal is to remove dead skin cells and promote cell turnover to avoid acne and breakouts. Regular exfoliation with gentle cleansers is advised. The plus side is, it will always leave you with a brighter more vibrant skin!

Get Sun Protective Accessories

Don't forget to put on your wide brimmed hat, even when walking your dog! They help protect your face from excessive sun exposure. Choose lightweight, loose-fitting clothes. You want air to flow over as much of your skin as possible to help sweat evaporate and cool your body.
